Jordan Arnold
Partner and co-founder JORDAN ARNOLD has over twenty years of combined law enforcement and private consulting experience investigating theft, fraud, and related financial crime involving art and collectibles, and providing market participants with risk management and security advice.
As a prosecutor with the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, Jordan was counsel to the NYPD Major Case Squad and led investigations into and prosecutions for art theft and fakes, as well as art-related document forgery, insurance fraud, and related crimes.
Jordan also directed some of Manhattan’s most sensitive cases involving murder, abduction, extortion, bank robbery, and thefts within cultural institutions, luxury hotels, judicial chambers, and the police commissioner’s office. His art crime cases included the recovery of a 1949 Salvador Dali watercolor and the conviction of its thief, and the dismantling of a years-long criminal enterprise engaged in the production and sale of counterfeit Damien Hirst artwork.
As the former executive vice president of a global consulting firm and head of its private client practice, and the founding principal of Jetty Partners, Jordan has deep experience leading risk assessments, internal and external investigations, and litigation support engagements for clients including Fortune 50 companies, AmLaw 100 firms, and Forbes 400 families.
With his ArtRisk partner Jim Wynne, Jordan’s consulting work includes the investigation and referral of a $9.5 million consignment/art fraud case (resulting in the conviction and imprisonment of the perpetrator); the recovery of a $5 million painting stolen from a major art collector; the discovery of an art fraudster using a false identity to defraud an art gallery; and the handling of several insurance claim investigations that resulted in the recovery of valuable paintings and jewelry. Jordan has presented on his art investigations to, among other organizations, the Association for Research into Crimes against Art (ARCA), Professional Advisors to the International Art Market (PAIAM), and the New York City Bar Association.
He is also a certified mediator, with membership in the International Institute for Conflict Prevention & Resolution and a certificate from the Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School.
As a prosecutor and a consultant, Jordan has been quoted in publications including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Guardian, and his work has been covered by, among other outlets, CNN, BBC, CNBC, and 48 Hours.
In his spare time, Jordan is an active-duty firefighter with the heavy rescue and marine squads of his community’s volunteer fire department.
